This is one of our projects in Nigeria. It is a 60tpd edible oil solvent extraction plant, used to produce soybean oil and palm kernel oil. This video only shows the second floor of the solvent extraction plant. Actually, it also has pretreatment and pre-pressing plant.
The pretreatment and pre-pressing plant of this 60tpd project
This 60tpd edible oil solvent extraction plant can make the residual oil rate less than 1%. It is also the advantage of edible oil solvent extraction process, which is a chemical method to extract oil out from oil cakes or oil seeds that has been pretreated. And N-hexane is the preferred solvent.
Edible oil solvent extraction process flow chart
Hexane based process has been in commercial operation for a long time. For such solvent extraction process, it is possible to achieve oil yields in excess of 95% with a solvent recovery of over 95%, which in compare to 60 to 70% oil yield by mechanical expeller pressing method. The edible oil solvent extraction process can make sure residual oil rate less than 1%. It is relatively efficient and reliable.
Besides, compared with pressing, solvent extraction methods have higher oil yeild and and better-quality meal. And this is one reason why edible oil solvent extraction process is popular used in large tonnages edible oil plant.
The solvent extraction plant of this 60tpd project
There are 2 types method in edible oil solvent extraction process: direct solvent extraction and prepressing extraction. Direct solvent extraction method is always used for low-oil-content oil seeds, while pre-pressing extraction method is used for high-oil-content oil seeds. So this project belong to pre-pressing extraction method because of high oil content of palm kernel.
