The entire pyrolysis procedure, including the cooling time, takes from 3.5 hours to 12 hours or more. The pyrolysis process period varies so much because it is influenced by the pyrolysis plants types and pyrolysis reactor designs.
For a fully continuous waste pyrolysis plant, since it is running continuously without stop, it will take about 3.5 hours for the feed stock feeding into the continuous pyrolysis reactor and finishing pyrolysis inside. For batch type pyrolysis plant, its feeding and pyrolysis are not going simultaneously and pyrolysis process is after the full loading of pyrolysis reactor, so the entire pyrolysis procedure will take longer time.
For a batch type pyrolysis plant, the time of the entire pyrolysis procedure also varies a lot and depends on the design of the pyrolysis reactor. That is to say, different pyrolysis reactor designs will have different pyrolysis processing time.

In China market, batch type waste pyrolysis reactor has two main designs, one is in vertical design, the other one is in horizontal design. So let us take a 10ton capacity batch type pyrolysis reactor for an example:
The vertical design pyrolysis reactor is fixed inside the brick-made insulation, it does not rotate during the heating, the heat is only from the bottom of the reactor, so waste tyre cannot be evenly heated, which led to a longer pyrolysis time. Normally, the pyrolysis time of a 10ton waste tyre pyrolysis plant with a vertical reactor will take more than 12 hours.
Batch type horizontal design pyolysis reactor
The horizontal pyrolysis reactor is designed to rotate during the heating process, then waste tyre inside can be evenly heated, and the pyrolysis efficiency is greatly improved. The 10ton capacity horizontal design pyrolysis reactor will take about 8 hours to 10 hours to finish the pyrolysis process. Therefore, from the aspect of pyrolysis time, most investors will choose the horizontal pyrolysis reactor design.
